Applying for Jobs

Below you will find tools and information to help you apply for jobs. Before you look at these, you might want to have a think about your interests, skills and achievements as well as researching the industry you hope to be working in. All this can be done on the careers portal. Find details of all the activities you have completed and the skills this has given you and the advice you have been given. All this is invaluable for any application, interview or reference request.

The important thing to remember is that you must be well prepared. Don't think about applying for a role until you know why you want to work there, why they should hire you and what you would bring to the team. Then think about how you can prove it. Examples, things you have done and any feedback received. Some times it can help to have a set of STARs - Situation, Task, Action, Results that you can use to demonstrate you really are as capable and experienced as you say you are.

Interviews

Assessment Centres

Many firms now use assessment centres where you will attend for a day and undertake a series of interviews, tasks, presentations and testing. As with any stage of an application, careful preparation is the key.
